We are taking Jared with us, and I'm totally excited. I loved taking Lance to Disneyland a couple of years ago, but lets face it. Lance is HIGH maintenance. The KID was a bit of a pill the whole trip.
Jared is so shy and laid back that I think with him he will LOVE everything about Disney World, and it will make it easier on me to deal with. I have heard that you can't really do DW justice in less than 6 days. So we will be going to Florida for 10 days. Not only do I want to be on the East Coast Happiest place on Earth, but I want to see something of Florida besides Mouse Ears.
We'll be doing 6 to 7 days at the mouse house, and a day on the beach. I've also got us scheduled for a day at Universal Studios just to see the Harry Potter stuff. I really hope it's as cool as it looks.
Dan is disappointed because he wants to kayak through the Everglades. I am not as upset as all I can think about is: Isn't that the place where that movie Deliverance is set?
I'm contemplating trying to squeeze in an extra day and got to the Space Center. It would be educational, but it's a bit expensive. Something like $50.00 a person.
I have always wanted to stay at a Disney Hotel. Of course anyone who has ever priced one knows, that ouch! it's expensive. So I am compromising. We are looking at booking at a Disney Hotel, but one of the Value rated ones. It's still on property, we still get Disney perks, but it's not killing my budget.
I want to go over our Anniversary. From what I understand is that when I book my package, I can tell them it's an anniversary trip, and Disney will give us some perks there too.
I am bummed because Beth and I have talked about us going to DW, but what I want to do is just not in their budget. The whole package, Flight, hotel, tickets, food. ect... Just under $6,000.00.
Plus to get this deal, (yep it's a pretty cheap deal) we have to go in September or October. Beth works for a School district, so we'd only be 3 weeks in to her work time, and Jadon will be in middle school, so he will only be 3 weeks into that. I would move it to October, but that is Dan's works busiest time of year, and he will not be given 10 days off during that month.
I wish they could go though. I would like another kid to be there with Jared. But I DO NOT want to take Lance.
I don't know if Beth and Bill could justify just doing a few days. Like maybe taking off for 6. I suppose I should see what kind of deal I can get them. And it would be cheaper if we stayed in a hotel outside Disney, but since I have to rent a Scooter, I would rather be in park. They have a bus with Scooter transport and such.
Dan laughed at the hotel I chose, but I did a lot of web research, and this place was highly recommended for it class of hotel. Plus it has it's own bus as compared to it's sister hotels which share a bus between the 3 of them. Since getting to the parks and such easily and quickly, this is important too. I have also researched what to do when we get there. The main reason I want to spend so much time there, is because I want to be able to sit back and enjoy my vacation. I don't want to be stressing out thinking: "well we will just go here and do this, but this show is over here and it starts at this time, but we have to be here at this time to ride this ride."
The scooter will be a tremendous help. I mean I don't want a scooter for every day by any means. I am not that helpless, but I know I would not make it through the parks on foot. So I am happy to use a scooter. Florida has places that will rent them to you by the week. I figure it will be about $200.00 for the trip. This is GREAT! I am even trying to get Dan to rent one too. It sounds sill, but I just know his back and feet will be killing him after the first day. I figure I can cheat and put Jared on the scooter with me. This would be awesome. and DW is apparently pretty scooter friendly. Most of the ride lines are set up to have scooters go through them.
