We bought some tomato plants and pepper plants to grow. I was going to put them in a Topsy Turvy and see if my black thumb would turn slightly green enough to grow tomatoes that way. But when we were at the Evil Empire today I found this cool deck garden thing. We bought soil for vegetables and the garden and went home happily.....
Then we found out we needed to buy play sand for the base. Oops, Dan ran to Lowe's and picked some up. While he was gone I put the thing together. It was surprisingly very easy.
Once the base was filled we got ready to plant the tomoatoes. The instructions say to shove the roots up through the hole. Now that sounds simple, right? Except that the hole is about the size of a silver dollar, and the roots were, shall we say, a lot bigger than that. We decided to carefully squish the leaves through the hole and hope for the best. It seemed to have worked pretty darn well.
Then we filled the tray with the specially bought soil, and planted the Pepper plants on top. One is a green bell from Meredith, and the other is a yellow bell from E.E. We'll see how they grow.
Aparently I should be able to grow other veggies too. Dan and I would like to try to grow Herbs. My previous attempts at those failed miserably. But we're game.
Yay, Dan and Denise become gardeners.
