Today I had a very random thought. It's weird because while I have those all the time, I don't usually dwell on them as much as I have this one.
Today we had clients in the office and I said to a co-worker, softly, without thinking, " I'll be right back, I have to pee."
This is not something that would normally be said aloud to anyone by anyone over the age of 22, but there it was. I am not sure to be concerned that the response was "OK", but then again when you spend as much time with the same people everyday, responses can be automatic.
As my slight bit of shock wore off, I toddled past said clients and went on the restroom. During such time I pondered the word PEE. Where did it come from? Is is a slang? meaning from some other word? I would like to know. I mean who decided that the liquid secreated from our bodies would be called by a letter in the alphabet?
I beleive the proper term, should you feel the need to announce it, would be, I have to Urinate. or would that be, I need to urinate? Now my grammer is confused.
I know that nurses and other medical professionals call it Voiding, as in "Do you need to void?" Which is weird as well, but more understandable.
And then my random thought moved on to, who decided that the word would be POO? Who the heck suddenly decided, "We will call # 1 Pee and # 2 Poo, and this will be exceptable throughout the land"? And how did we come about numbering them? Did the mysterious they decide that everyone uninates first then deficates? Hence we should label them. If we went alphabetical then shouldn't it be I need to go A and then B?
Then my random thought went to, I wonder if I can find this out on Google or Wikipedia. But by the time I made it back to my desk, said random thought was gone.
However when I got home tonight, something I know not what, made me think of my random thought, and so it's here for all of you to read, scratch your head, think I've lost my mind, and then say: "hum.... I wonder if she looked it up?"

ReplyDeleteYes I will stand and raise my hand to say I said "OK". Really it was more of a Ok why are you telling me this but I didnt have a chance to ask why becuase she was already toddling off.
ReplyDeleteI told my boss I needed to pee one day and didn't think twice about it until I got the bathroom and thought, "Why the hell did I just say that?" and then sat there embarrassed LOL
