I've been doing so well in my recovery that I was thinking I should go back to work a week early. I'm only getting 60% of my pay, so it would be a good idea. But after yesterday, I am going to re-think my strategy.
Beth came to my house for a get-a-way from her house, and we decided to go to Robert's crafts again as they are now at 90% off. Oddly enough we were there for almost 2 hours. Beth is a deep shopper and I have to admit she does find some awesome stuff, but she just is too much of a shopper for me.
I found some great bargains and this really cool picture frame. It has lettering on it that says: Friends are what make this life great. and a place for 4 pictures. I have to think of where to put it, but I'm excited to get it up. My friends are my family, just like my family members are my friends.
Beth found embrodery patterns and had to go through quite a few. I was so worn out that I found a box of pattern books and sat on the floor to go through them, just so I could rest. This is when I realized that for my first outing after my surgery, I am not ready to go back to work just yet. I need a little more time.
By the time I got Beth ready to go, there was a pretty long line to check out. I stood in line and let Beth wander the few more rows of stuff. We got to the check out finally and she went first. I got called a few moments later to a different checker, and was done long before Beth. I was kind of shocked because even though everything was 90% off, all I bought still came to $35.00. The frame by the way was my most expensive purchase at $70.99. ($7.10). I stood by Beth and waited for her check out. It came to just under a hundred dollars. OUCH! and it was funny because almost everything she bought fit in one bag.
I have a feeling that everyone will be getting some sort of pillow or sampler from her this Christmas.
After we stopped for dinner because I was starving. We talked for some time. I love spending time with Beth. Shes funny and interesting and it makes me feel like I have a big sister. I love my 5 greatest friends for just that reason. Beth because she's a tiny bit older and is like my big sis. Charlotte because she's like my goofy fun loving sis. Lorie because she's like my twin. We know each other so well we can finish each others sentences. And Stef because she's just like my little sis, someone who I can share advise with and is always up for a challenge. how lucky I am to have these women in my life!
After dinner we went to see my Auntie Elaine. She looked better than I expected, but she didn't look good. Her poor feet were so swollen I couldn't stop staring. They looked like they were going to pop at any moment. She assured Beth and I that a team was going to come in to address them today, but I'm still concerned. She just can't take care of herself anymore. I hope we can get her into somewhere that can help us make sure she's safe and secure.
We talked for a while and then it was 10 pm and visiting hours were over. I am going to go out tomorrow and get some flowers and such for her room. Also some headphones and bring in some movies so she can watch on her laptop. I was dismayed to see that she had to share a room with someone. I know that's usually how it is at a care center, but still. It's so hard because you don't get any privacy at all.
But today is a day of rest. I have been very worn out from all I did yesterday, and have no desire to even do anything today. But dishes are calling out to me, and the least I could do is empty the clean dishes out of the washer and refill it. Sigh......
